N.B.: All amounts indicated are in Canadian dollars.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC) announced its results today for the
second quarter and six-month period ended June 30, 2012.

Second Quarter Results

For the second quarter of 2012, net income attributable to SNC-Lavalin
shareholders was $32.5million ($0.21 per share on a diluted basis),
compared to $102.2million ($0.67 per share on a diluted basis) for the
comparable quarter of 2011. The net income excluding Infrastructure
Concession Investments ("ICI") was $2.0 million, compared to $60.5
million
for the second quarter of 2011, mainly reflecting operating
losses in the Power and Infrastructure & Environment segments, as well
as a lower contribution from the Hydrocarbons & Chemicals segment. The
net income from ICI decreased to $30.5 million, compared to
$41.7million for the second quarter of 2011, mainly due to lower
dividends from Highway 407, as a special dividend of $18.5 million was
declared and paid to the Company in the second quarter of 2011, as well
as a lower net income from Shariket Kahraba Hadjret En Nouss S.p.A.
("SKH"), partially offset by a higher net income from AltaLink.

For the second quarter of 2012, revenues increased by 14.2% to $1.9
billion
, mainly due to an increase of 39.4% in the Services category.

Year-to-Date Results

For the six-month period ended June 30, 2012, net income attributable to
SNC-Lavalin shareholders was $99.6 million ($0.66 per share on a
diluted basis), compared to $178.3million ($1.17 per share on a
diluted basis) for the same period of 2011. The net income excluding
ICI was $44.0 million, compared to $112.2 million for the first six
months of 2011, mainly reflecting lower contributions from the Power,
Hydrocarbons & Chemicals and Operations & Maintenance segments, as well
as an operating loss in the Infrastructure & Environment segment,
partially offset by a higher contribution from the Mining & Metallurgy
segment. For the same reasons given above, the net income from ICI
decreased to $55.6 million, compared to $66.1million for the first six
months of 2011.

"The second quarter was difficult in terms of project execution, but we
are encouraged by our strong financial position and backlog," said Ian
Bourne
, Vice-Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer, SNC-Lavalin
Group Inc.

The Company's financial position remained solid with cash and cash
equivalents totalling $1.2billion as at June 30, 2012.

Revenues for the six-month period ended June 30, 2012, increased by
11.5% to $3.7 billion, compared to $3.3billion for the same period in
2011, mainly due to an increase of 39.4% in the Services category.

Revenue backlog remained strong at $10.7billion at the end of June
2012
, compared to $10.1billion at the end of December 2011, with
increases in the Services and Packages categories of activity.

The Company's return on average shareholders' equity was 14.8% for the
12-month period ended June 30, 2012.

Mr. Bourne also stated, "We are pleased with our progress in
implementing the remedial measures emanating from the internal
investigation conducted in the first quarter of 2012."

2012 Outlook Update

The Company is revising its previously announced 2012 Outlook for which
the expected 2012 net income was to be in line with full year 2011 net
income. Principally as a result of the unfavourable cost reforecasts of
approximately $50 million identified as part of ongoing project reviews
and recorded in the second quarter of 2012 on two major fixed-price
projects, one in the Power segment and one in the Hydrocarbons &
Chemicals segment, the 2012 net income is currently expected to be in a
range of $325 million to $340 million. This Outlook continues to be
based on (i) the expectation that the Power and Mining & Metallurgy
segments, mainly based on their current backlog, and the
InfrastructureConcession Investments segment will be the main
contributors to net income, while the Hydrocarbons &Chemicals and
Infrastructure & Environment segments will continue to be challenging
throughout 2012, and (ii) the methodology described in the Company's
2011 Management's Discussion and Analysis under the heading "How We
Budget and Forecast Our Results", and which remains subject to the
risks and uncertainties described in the Company's public disclosure
documents.

Quarterly Dividends

The Board of Directors today declared a cash dividend of $0.22 per
share, payable on August 31, 2012, to shareholders of record on August
17, 2012
. This dividend is an "eligible dividend" for income tax
purposes.

For further information about GMP Capital Inc., our results for second
quarter 2012 and the meaning of certain references, this quarterly
earnings release should be read in conjunction with our Second Quarter
2012 Financial Statements and Management's Discussion and Analysis for
the three and six months ended June 30, 2012, which can be accessed on

Statements prepared in accordance with International Financial
Reporting Standards ("IFRS").

TORONTO, Aug. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - GMP Capital Inc. ("GMP") (TSX: GMP) today reported revenue of $62.7 million in second quarter
2012, representing a 7% decrease compared with the same period a year
ago. GMP recorded a net loss of $0.4 million and a net loss
attributable to common shareholders of $4.1 million ($0.06 net loss per
basic share) in second quarter 2012 compared with net income of $5.1
million
and net income attributable to common shareholders of $2.7
million
($0.04 per basic share) in second quarter 2011. This quarter's
results continued to be affected by the adverse market conditions.

"The fragility of the capital markets environment has been exacerbated
by ongoing European sovereign debt concerns and an anaemic global
economic outlook. The resulting negative market sentiment has led to a
significant retrenchment of risk among investors contributing to a
sharp contraction in capital markets activity," said Harris Fricker,
Chief Executive Officer, GMP. "Not surprisingly, the pace of client
trading and equity underwriting activity has slowed considerably with
the severity of this downturn. Despite the unfavourable market
conditions, we are pleased with the performance of our M&A franchise,
which delivered solid results this quarter, and our new high yield
business which continued to gain momentum as we married our
traditionally strong origination ability with a first-rate distribution
network via GMP Securities, LLC."

Commenting further, Mr. Fricker said, "In light of the prolonged
downturn in the capital markets and uncertainty as to timing of
sustained global economic recovery, we remain focused on preserving our
considerable capital strength, closely monitoring and managing risk and
limiting costs. Despite market conditions, we continue to invest in
our franchise and we believe we have the people, platform and product
capabilities that will allow us to excel in normalized markets."

SECOND QUARTER 2012 BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS

CAPITAL MARKETS

  • Revenue of $56.4 million, a decrease of 7% compared with second quarter
2011 primarily due to lower commission revenue reflecting lower client
trading volumes and lower equity underwriting activity, particularly in
the Canadian resource sectors. Partly offsetting these decreases was a
year-over-year increase in advisory revenue and improved debt
underwriting results as we continue to grow our fixed income franchise.

  • Expenses of $53.4 million, an increase of 10% compared with second
quarter 2011 primarily reflecting the incremental costs associated with
GMP USA acquired in third quarter 2011 and our Australian operations
which were launched in second quarter 2011.

  • Income before income taxes of $3.1 million in second quarter 2012
compared with $12.1 million in second quarter 2011.

GMP Securities L.P. ("GMP Securities") Highlights:

  • ranked eighth in the dollar value of common equity underwriting
transactions completed in Canada for which we were lead or co-lead;2

  • ranked sixth in equity block trading volumes on the Toronto Stock
Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange, achieving a 5.0% market share;3

  • participated in 47 underwriting transactions completed in Canada helping
raise approximately $3.7 billion on behalf of clients, leading or
co-leading 10 of these transactions with an aggregate dollar value of
    $1.1 billion;4 and

  • advised on seven M&A transactions announced in Canada valued at US$1.8
    billion5.

WEALTH MANAGEMENT

  • The Wealth Management segment is comprised of GMP's non-controlling
ownership interest in Richardson GMP Limited ("Richardson GMP").
Wealth Management reported a loss before income taxes of $0.7 million
in second quarter 2012 compared with income before income taxes of $0.5
    million
in second quarter 2011. Wealth Management's second quarter
2012 results reflect lower operating performance by Richardson GMP
primarily due to lower client trading volumes as a result of the
    continued challenging market environment.

Richardson GMP Highlights (100% basis):

  • assets under administration1 of $13.7 billion; and

  • 111 investment advisory teams strategically located in offices across
    Canada.

ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS

  • Revenue of $2.0 million, a decrease of 28% compared with second quarter
2011 due primarily to the deconsolidation of EdgeStone Capital
    Partners, L.P. from GMP's financial results in fourth quarter 2011;

  • loss before income taxes of $1.2 million compared with a loss before
    income taxes of $1.1 million in second quarter 2011;

  • GMP Investment Management L.P. ended the quarter with assets under
    management1 of $578 million; and

  • generated a return of 12.0% in first half 2012 for the Canadian ABCP
Fund L.P., net of management fees and other expenses.

dividend of $0.05 per common share and a quarterly cash dividend of

adjusted basis which excludes the impacts of specified items may be
more reflective of ongoing operating results and provides readers with
an enhanced understanding of how management views GMP's core
performance. Management assesses performance on both a reported and an
adjusted basis and considers both bases to be useful in assessing
underlying, ongoing business performance. Presenting results on both
bases also permits readers to assess the impact of the specified items

BRE - Brookfield Real Estate Services Inc. reports second quarter 2012 results and monthly dividend (CAD 0.092)

Company: Brookfield Real Estate Services Inc.
Stock Name: BRE
Amount: CAD 0.092
Announcement Date: 02/08/2012
Record Date: 29/08/2012

Dividend Detail:

TORONTO, Aug. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Brookfield Real Estate Services Inc. (the
Company) (TSX: BRE), a leading provider of services to residential real
estate brokers and their REALTORS, today announced that cash flow from operations ("CFFO") for the three
and six months ended June 30, 2012 was $7.4 million or $0.57 per
Restricted Voting Share ("Share") and $12.9 million or $1.01 per Share,
respectively, as compared to $6.8 million or $0.53 per Share and $12.5
million
or $0.98 per Share, respectively, for the same period in 2011.

CFFO for the rolling 12 month period ended June 30, 2012 was $2.00 per
Share as compared to $1.97 for the 12 months ended December 31, 2011.
Royalties for the three and six months ended June 30, 2012 were $10.0
million
and $18.2 million, respectively, compared to $9.8 million and
$18.1 million, respectively for the same period in 2011. Net earnings
for the three and six months ended June 30, 2012 was $7.9 million and
$4.7 million, or $0.83 and $0.49 earnings per Share, respectively, as
compared to net income of $4.9 million and $3.1 million or $0.52 and
$0.33 per Share, respectively, for the same period in 2011.

OVERVIEW OF SECOND QUARTER OPERATING RESULTS

During the Quarter, the Company generated CFFO of $7.4 million as
compared to $6.8 million for the same period in 2011 as a result of
increased market activity, a $0.2 million recovery of previously
written off receivables and reduced reporting costs, partially offset
by a $0.2 million decrease in other revenue and services fees. Other
revenue and services decreased by $0.2 million quarter over quarter, as
the Company discontinued an agent website program that was no longer
relevant.

On a rolling twelve-month basis, the Canadian market transactional
dollar volume of $170.8 billion increased by 10% from June 30, 2011,
driven by a 3% and 7% increase in selling price and home sale activity,
respectively. For the three months ended June 30, 2012, the Canadian
market transactional dollar volume was up 5% over the same period in
2011, solely driven by increase in home sale activity.

On a rolling twelve-month basis, the GTA Market experienced a
quarter-over-same-quarter increase of 18% driven by a 8% increase in
selling price and 10% increase in home sale activity. For the three
months ended June 30, 2012, the GTA Market experienced an 12% increase
on a 7% and 4% increase in selling price and home sale activity,
respectively over the same period in 2011. The higher than anticipated
rise in home prices is largely driven by the consistent shortage of
listings in the single-detached homes market, resulting in competition
among home buyers, and low interest rates, which continues to draw home
buyers into the Market.

The Company's revenue is primarily fixed in nature, based on the number
of REALTORS in the network, which decreased 1%, period over period. This structure
provides revenue protection from the impact of revenue declines when
the market cools, but also reduces the degree to which the Company
participates in periods of rapid market expansion.

"While tumultuous economic conditions beyond our borders have been a
drag on Canadian consumer confidence, the relatively favourable
domestic outlook and stimulative effect of pervasively low interest
rates have continued to support real estate activity at healthy
levels." said Phil Soper, President and Chief Executive Officer,
Brookfield Real Estate Services, Inc.

It has been an encouraging year from a growth perspective. Our
franchising prospects are building at a good pace as skilled brokerage
operators from across the country look favourably upon the company's
offerings and agree to join the network. As well, early conversions to
our Royal LePage brand from the Brookfield's acquisition of Prudential
Real Estate will positively impact the Company's future results.

The Company Network

As at June 30, 2012 the Company Network was comprised of 15,249 REALTORS, operating under 412 franchise agreements providing services from 662
locations, with an approximate 22% share of the Market based on 2011
transactional dollar volume.

Outlook

"The industry has enjoyed three years of strong house price appreciation
in almost all regions of the country, but home prices cannot grow
faster than salaries and the underlying economy indefinitely," added
Soper."Some regions have reached or perhaps even exceed the current
upper level of price resistance. We expect prices and unit sales to
level off in many major markets, bringing the full year 2012 into line
with our original growth forecast."

Monthly Cash Dividend

The Company declared a cash dividend of $0.092 per share for the month
of August 2012, payable on September 28, 2012, to shareholders of
record on August 31, 2012.

CFFO

This news release and accompanying financial statements make reference
to cash flow from operations ("CFFO") on a total and per restricted
voting share basis. CFFO is defined as net income prior to fair value
changes, amortization, interest on exchangeable units, income taxes,
items related to other income and interests of exchangeable
unitholders. CFFO is used by the Company to measure the amount of cash
generated from operations which is available to the Company's
shareholders on a diluted basis where such dilution represents the
total number of shares of the Company that would be outstanding if
exchangeable unitholders converted Class B LP units into shares of the
Company. The Company uses CFFO to assess its operating results, the
value of its business and believes that many of its shareholders and
analysts also find this measure of value to them. CFFO does not have
any standard meaning pre-scribed by IFRS and therefore may not be
comparable to similar measures presented by other companies.

Management Services Agreement

The Company is managed pursuant to a Management Services Agreement
between the Company and Brookfield Real Estate Services Manager Limited
(the "Manager"), a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management. The
Management Services Agreement would automatically renew for a ten year
renewal term on August 7, 2013, unless the Company or the Manager gives
notice of its intention not to renew the Management Services Agreement
not later than August 6, 2012. The Company and the Manager have agreed
to delay the date for delivery of such notice to on or before December
31
, 2012. The Management Services Agreement has been in effect since
2003 and was originally designed for an Income Trust structure. The
Company intends to ensure that any future ongoing management
arrangements are in the best interests of the Company and its
shareholders.

Forward-Looking Statements

This news release contains forward-looking information and other
"forward-looking statements". The words such as "should", "will",
"continue", "plan", "believe", "expect", "anticipate", "intend",
"estimate", "approximate", "expected" and other expressions that are
predictions of or indicate future events and trends and that do not
relate to historical matters identify forward-looking statements.
Reliance should not be placed on forward-looking statements because
they involve known and unknown risks, uncertainties and other factors
that may cause the actual results, performance or achievements of the
Corporation to differ materially from anticipated future results,
performance or achievement expressed or implied by such forward-looking
statements. Factors that could cause actual results to differ
materially from those set forward in the forward looking statements
include a change in general economic conditions, interest rates,
consumer confidence, the level of residential real estate resale
transactions, the average rate of commissions charged, competition from
other traditional real estate brokers or from discount and/or
Internet-based real estate alternatives, the availability of
acquisition opportunities and/or the closing of existing real estate
brokerage offices, other developments in the residential real estate
brokerage industry or the Corporation that reduce the number of and/or
royalty revenue from the Corporation's network of 15,295 REALTORS, our
ability to maintain brand equity through the use of trademarks, the
availability of equity and debt financing, a change in tax provisions,
and other risks detailed in the Fund's annual information form, which
is filed with securities commissions and posted on SEDAR at www.sedar.com. The Corporation undertakes no obligation to publicly update or revise
any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information,
future events or otherwise, except as required by law.

Brookfield Real Estate Services Inc. Profile

The Company is a leading provider of services to residential real estate
brokers and their REALTORS. The Company generates cash flow from franchise royalties and service
fees derived from a national network of real estate brokers and agents
in Canada operating under the Royal LePage, Via Capitale Real Estate
Network and Johnston & Daniel brand names. At June 30, 2012, the
Company network consisted of 15,249 REALTORS. The Company network has an approximate 22% share of the Canadian
residential resale real estate market based on transactional dollar
volume. The Company generates both fixed and variable fee components.
Variable fees are primarily driven by the total transactional dollar
volume from the sales commissions of REALTORS, while fixed fees are based on the number of agents and sales
representatives in the network. Approximately 68% of the Company's
revenue is based on fees that are fixed in nature; this provides
revenue stability and helps insulate the Company's cash flows from
market fluctuations. The Company is listed on the TSX and trades under
the symbol "BRE". For further information about the Company, please
